What data I collect
AquaKit uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymised usage data. This includes pages visited, time spent on each page, approximate geographic location (country and region level only), device type, and browser. I don’t collect names, email addresses, or any information that directly identifies you.
Why I collect it
Analytics data helps me understand which tools are most useful, where visitors encounter problems, and how to improve the site. I use this information solely to make AquaKit better — I don’t use it for advertising.
Cookies
Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish between unique visitors and to track sessions. Analytics cookies are only set after you give consent via the banner shown on your first visit. If you decline, no analytics cookies are placed and no data is collected.
I also store your cookie preference in your browser’s local storage. This is purely functional — it is not shared with third parties.
Calculator data (localStorage)
AquaKit saves your calculator input values locally in your browser using localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server. It is stored under keys prefixed with aquakit: and can be cleared at any time using the “Clear” link shown on any calculator page after values are restored, or by clearing your browser’s site data.
Data sharing
I don’t sell, trade, or share your data with third parties, except as required to operate Google Analytics. Google’s data processing is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
Data retention
Google Analytics retains event-level data for 14 months by default. Aggregated reports may be retained indefinitely.
Your rights
Under GDPR and similar regulations, you have the right to:
- Access the data I hold about you
- Request erasure of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time
To opt out of analytics, use the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer and select Decline. You can also install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
